IDE Installation Guide for Windows


This Installation Guide shows you how to install the OpenLegacy IDE on a Windows machine.

OpenLegacy IDE Prerequisites

Before installing the OpenLegacy IDE, make sure you have:

Developer Station Requirements

  • Windows 7/8/8.1 or 10, 64-bit
  • At least 8GB memory (16GB recommended)
  • At least two dual processors (Core i7 recommended)
  • 10 GB free disk space
  • User with Admin permission - for running OpenLegacy with a non-admin user check the /wiki/spaces/OV42/pages/281941 guide.
  • For Screens only – Telnet (terminal) connection to the host application (AS/400 or Mainframe)
  • For SAP only - SAP JCo connector, property connector supplied with SAPGUI installation

Additional Considerations

  • Relevant ports should be opened in the firewall according to project requirements.

Installing the OpenLegacy IDE

This procedure walks you through the OpenLegacy IDE installation steps.

  1. Double-click on the OpenLegacy installation provided.
  2. Select the installation path or leave the default setting (C:\OpenLegacy).
  3. Click Next.

Note: The installation path must be under a directory to which the user have write permissions.

The recommended path is 'C:\' but the user could change it according to his permissions. 

If the destination folder already exists, the following dialog box opens.

  1. The directory already exists. Are you sure that you want to continue?

Note

If an installed IDE already exists on this path, OpenLegacy will install the new IDE into a new folder with a timestamp added to the folder name in the following format: IDE dd.MM.yyyy(hh.mm.ss)

The OpenLegacy License File screen opens:

  1. Click on Browse… and select the license file.

  2. Click Next.

    Providing a valid license is a must 

The Select Installation Packages screen opens:

  1. Select:
    • OpenLegacy IDE
    • JDK - required for the OpenLegacy IDE (selected as default)
    • Maven Dependencies
  2. Click Next.


The Install Maven Dependencies opens:

  1. After selecting the desired folder for dependencies, Click Install.

The Installation screen opens.

OpenLegacy will install the JDK, IDE and the Maven Dependencies now.

Wait till the installation is complete, the green Progress bar will be full and the Next button will be enabled.

  1. Click Next.

The Setup Shortcuts screen opens.

  1. Select the desired shortcuts, and click Next.

The Final Installation screen open.

  1. Click Finish.

 You have now successfully installed the OpenLegacy IDE.
